Guest Stars on Friends - One Of My Favourites Has To Be Brad Pitt Starring As Will Colbert

There have been many guest stars on Friends over the years, and I guess as the hit show got bigger so did the special guest stars. However, amongst the various famous faces to appear on one of TV's biggest shows, one of my all time favourites has to be Brad Pitt, who starred as Will Colbert. Brad, of course, ended up dating, and then marrying Rachel aka Jennifer Aniston, but do you recall this hilarious guest on Friends?

Will was Ross's fat friend from school who co-founded the "I hate Rachel Green club". The only other member was the exchange student from Thailand, although Takia didn't seem to know much about it. Monica also had a soft spot for Will as she was known as his thin friend whilst at school. Will's hatred for Rachel seems to stem from the fact that he was an unpopular fat kid, whereas she was an extremely popular cheerleader, and thus made his life hell.

It wasn't until years later, when Will had lost over 180 pounds and was the smouldering and sexy guest who visited for Thanksgiving, that Rachel finally noticed him. It's a hilarious turn of events at the Thanksgiving dinner, and there are numerous references made about Will's stunning good looks - my favourite of which has to be Chandler mentioning that he thinks it would be better for his ego if him and Will did not stand next to each other.

During the dinner, accounts of the past slowly unravel. Firstly, we discover that the I hate Rachel Green club started a rumour that Rachel was a hermaphrodite cheerleader from Long Island. Possibly even funnier was the fact that Ross had a secret fling with the school's 50-year-old librarian, Miss Altman! Unfortunately, Will also reveals that the Thai exchange student had a similar liaison with Miss Altman.

Brad Pitt's appearance as one of the many guest stars on Friends tells us exactly how big the show about six New Yorkers actually got. In fact, I would imagine that Brad was the biggest Hollywood draw at that moment in time. However, the producers of the show used Brad's looks as a source of fun and hilarity. The fact that Phoebe spends the whole episode trying to get Will to take off his shirt is an equal cause of amusement. Of course, Phoebe finally gets her way, well sort of, when she hugs Will as opposed to giving a high five. Obviously, Phoebe let us now it was just how she imagined it would be.

Philippines Culture

The culture of the Philippines is based mainly on the various native religious groups, which have different cultural backgrounds and traditions. These groups include the Tagalogs, Ilokanos, Bikolanos, and others. The culture of the Philippines is greatly influenced by the Chinese and American cultures as well as those of other countries. The Hispanic influence on the Filipino culture is the result of the Mexican and Spanish cultures as a result of colonial rule.

Every year the citizens of the Philippines host major festivities that are known as the Barrio Fiesta. This fiesta honors all the patron saints of different towns, villages, and regional districts and is celebrated by ceremonies that are held in the church followed by street parades in honor of the saints. There are various contests that include dancing and singing, and cockfight tournaments before the grand finale of the fireworks.

The Chinese also influence the Filipino culture to a large extent, and this is clearly evident in the Filipino cuisines. The locals here have termed the famous Chinese noodles as Mami. Other dishes like meat and other foodstuffs also reflect the influence of the Chinese cuisine. The influence of the Chinese culture in the Philippines is reflected in the fact that citizens occasionally use Chinese surnames, and some are proficient in speaking the language as well.

Over a century ago, the American culture began having a relative influence on the Philippines. The frequent use of the English language in the Philippines is due to the American culture influence. The American culture has also increased the demand for fast food and its chains have spread all over the Philippines. Filipinos have also started listening to the latest American music, taken to watching American movies, dancing to the American tunes, and also started fancying Hollywood actors. The basic principal of the Filipino people is to follow their moral values and to respect their elders and family members. These qualities help them grow into better human beings and have a friendly and pleasing personality.

How You Can Enjoy Your Trip To Thailand With Children

Although Thailand is not known for its children centred attractions, there are plenty of activities to appeal to families with young children whether on the beach or away from the coast. Thai's are also very welcoming to young children. So traveling with children to Thailand is not a problem at all.

The two most well-known beach resorts in Thailand that are labelled family-friendly are the islands of Koh Samui and Ko Lanta. Both islands have plenty to offer for families with children. There are on the beach accommodations available for both mid-range and upper range budgets. There are also many open air beachfront restaurants to dine in while your kids can play in the sand within your sight. There are also many day trip activities you can take up from elephant riding to snorkelling.

The island of Phuket is also another favorite family destination. However the beachfront accommodations are considered premium. Alternatively, there also many other less well-known beach resorts that your older kids can enjoy. The activities include kayaking, rock climbing and also the many dive centres that would teach the PADI children's SCUBA courses. For eight years old, they can enroll the Bubblemaker program. The Discover SCUBA diving day is for anyone over 10 years old. Thailand is blessed with many national parks and their waterfalls and caves are good day trip activities with River rafting and elephant riding.

The capital of Thailand Bangkok and Pattaya also has many child friendly theme parks for families. If you are in Thailand in January, your children to enjoy the free entertainment and activities organized all over the country on the national children's Day also known as Wan Dek. This is held on the second Saturday of January and kids will be able to get free entry to the zoos and free rides on public transport.

Here are a few things you should note for parents. Many of the more expensive hotels will allow one or two under 12 years old to share their parent's room for free if no extra bedding is required. However, it is possible to squeeze two adults and two children into a double room in most budget or midrange hotels. Many hotels also provide babysitting services.

Most museums or transport companies do not offer any reduction in prices for children. According to the State Railway, a child that is age 3 to 12 years old can qualify for half price only if under 150 cm tall. For domestic flights, most airlines charge 10% of the full fare for children under two years old and 50% for children under 12 years old.

You will be able to buy disposable diapers easily at most convenience stores, pharmacies and supermarkets in the major resorts and towns. For your convenience, consider bringing a changing mat for your baby as there are few public toilets in Thailand. You will be able to find many international brands of powdered milk in Thailand.

You should also bring along or purchase a mosquito net and a sun tent. You should also consider packing along a bottle of a favorite spread for the toast just in case. Be careful with the unwashed fruits and salads and any other dishes that have been left uncovered for a long time.

Dogs can be a nuisance in Thailand. There are cases of rabies. So you should keep your kids away from animals such as dogs or monkeys. If necessary, get a rabies shot before the trip.

Koh Samui Villas - Rental Guide

Koh Samui, Thailand is the perfect, tropical island destination to immerse yourself in lush green coconut groves, surround yourself with white sands and submerse in crystal clear, azure blue waters. The large choice of Koh Samui villas now available for holiday rental hint at the recent shift in popularity from hotel accommodation to private villa rental. Why put up with crowded swimming pools, confined rooms and noisy neighbours?

Why rent a Koh Samui Villa?

Renting a villa gives you the space and privacy you need and offers much better value for money than hotel accommodation, especially when you work out the rental rate on a per room or per person basis. You can visit the supermarkets and stock-up the villa's refrigerator with all the food you need for your stay and can prepare your own snacks, cook your own meals or alternatively rent a villa Chef for your stay. Relax by the pool and take a cooling dip without worrying about your personal belongings. Turn up the music or enjoy a movie on the villa home theatre system without offending your neighbours or even have your very own fireworks show in your villa's private garden.

What kind of Koh Samui Villas are Available?

Koh Samui villas are available to suit every spending plan and every need. Starting at the lower end of the spectrum are 2 bedroom villas in their own private gardens with private pool, a mid-range option might be a 3 or 4 bedroom sea-view villa with luxurious interiors and a top end example would be a completely opulent and fully staffed 5 or 6 bedroom villa on the beach or hilltop with panoramic island and sea-views. The rental rates across this spectrum are typically around $100 - $3000 USD per night.

Where is the best location to rent a villa?

Most Koh Samui villa renters request villa options within about 15 minutes drive of Chaweng and the highest density of villas are in the touristic NE of the island, between Chaweng and Bophut. The North of the island around Maenam and Bang Por has many bargains to be found as rates are typically around 30% cheaper.

What villa services can I expect?

Generally the lower end villas are cleaned twice weekly with towels and bed linen provided and changed regularly. Mid-range villas are usually swept and tidied every day and at the top end there may be as many as 10 full-time staff including the villa manager, a personal Chef, waiters, cleaners and gardeners.

Wilderbeast Migration In The Masai Mara - One Of The New Seven Wonders Of The Modern World

In no place on earth has there been seen movement of beasts in unison with nature in search of nature. With their natural instinct wilderbeasts, Zebras and Gazelles in their millions move over an expanse covering 10000 square miles every year in search of fresh grass and water. With no leader of the pack they travel over the Serengeti and Masai Mara plains encountering the elements of nature in this migration.

The Serengeti-Mara ecosystems are considered to be perhaps the last of the ecosystems in which human impact is at its lowest. They travel in a clockwise direction covering the Masai Mara in Kenya and the Serengeti in Tanzania along the way encountering friends and foe alike. They cope with disease drought and predators alike. The big cat family have a feast on the beasts, picking their meals with ease and abundance. With about 30000 new borns in the migration prey is in plenty even for the crocodile that just have to wait in the rivers whose crossing is a must at many points of the migration and they pick out their prey in the hundreds.

The migration can involve up to two million animals walking and browsing across the plains until they reach the green lush plains of the Masai Mara. This great migration happens once a year and has been for millions of years.
The spectacle of this migration can only be understood when seen in person to be comprehend as a true wonder of the modern world. The serengeti-Mara phenomenon is a must see in a life time.

5 Top Tips To Win More With Any Lottery

Here's 5 top tips to bear in mind next time you complete your lottery playslip. They won't increase your CHANCES of winning - because ONLY more entries can do that.

BUT they can significantly increase the AMOUNT you win when your numbers do come up.

How?

Because all 5 lottery tips are based on avoiding the way a lot of other people pick their numbers. If you pick lottery numbers the same way as most people do, then when you hit the jackpot, you share that prize with everybody else who picked the same numbers.

That can turn a jackpot pool of millions into a prize of just thousands! It happens all too often - so please don't let it happen to you.

Here's those quick tips for making sure that your lottery jackpot is the life changing sum you are looking for:

[1] Don't pick numbers that have already won, especially not from recent draws. Many players believe that winnings numbers are somehow lucky and therefore more likely to come up. Of course that isn't true, but a lot of people do it.

[2] Don't pick numbers based on an arithmetic sequences, such as 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, or 01, 11, 21, 31, 41, 49. People like number patterns - you would be stunned at how many people pick this way every single week.

[3] Don't pick numbers according to a 'tip' service. Just imagine how many other people will use the same numbers!

[4] Don't pick numbers purely according to family birthdays. Enormous numbers of lottery players choose the day of the birthday of family members when selecting lottery numbers. But there are only 31 days at most in a month - which means an awful lot of people pick all their numbers in that range.

[5] Don't make a pattern on your playslip. Diagonal or straight lines in any direction, star shapes, boxes, zig-zags etc. You might think who else would do that? The answer is anywhere from tens of people to tens of THOUSANDS of people!

The easiest, fastest way to pick better lottery numbers, is to pick them totally at random. So pull scraps of paper out of a bag. It won't guarantee NOT picking a 'bad' set of numbers, but at least there's a good chance you won't be sharing your lottery millions with a hundred other 'lucky' winners.

Are you ready for more tips on how to win more often when playing the lottery?

If so then read below for a free report that uncovers the biggest mistakes most lottery players are making, and how you can avoid them.

5 Most Popular Hair Styles For 2008

The changes in hair styles have been gradual this year, but they have not come without notice. Apparently, the Paris Hilton long hair, Farah Fasset look is not going to fly in 2008. Shorter hair seems to be what's in for women these days. It looks like all the predictions at the start of the year turned out to be the false positives of futurist fluff.

There seems to be a complete tug of war between long and short hair for women. Television and Movie Stars, Print Models and Runway Stars, as well as Olympic Athlete gold medalists and news commentators share a common theme, long hair is okay and perfectly fine in 2008 and perhaps even into 2009. However, short hair is also, as long as it is matched by a personality that fits.

For men we see more and more movie stars with lots of hair, wavy, almost bushy. Then we see baldness making a huge move for the rough tough guys. The GQ look survives another year, so the clean cut Clark Kent's of the World are good to go, if they cannot muster the attitude of the carefree at peace with the society rebels of today.

So what's hot and what's not you ask?

Well, for gals its long or short. For guys it is wavy with bulk or bald like the incredible hulk. And for those who can carry a straight face, GQ is still okay. So, those are the 5 Most Popular Hair Styles for today. The trick is to be yourself, smile a lot, and not worry too much what's hot and what's not!

What is the Apple iPhone 4G and How Much Does it Cost?

Everything Apple Company does leads to a storm inside the technology world, but if you are simply average, you might be asking yourself what all of the hubbub is about. What is the Apple iPhone 4G (as well as would you like one)? Let us take an instant look.

What's the Apple iPhone 4G?

The iPhone is actually a portable entertainment product. This will let you to watch movies online, go through e-books as well as information reports, enjoy video games, tune in to songs, and deliver e-mail (wireless network needed). It is kind of a souped up model of the iPhone 3G, other than having a significantly larger screen. With it is full color display, it fits the dimensions of the Portable ebook reader (among the largest screened e-book viewers now available on the market). The iPhone weighs 1 pound and, based on Apple, has more than 24 hours of battery (laptop or computer manufacturers usually overrate these things, however certainly you will have sufficient to have through a couple films just before having to charge).

The iPhone can now run many Application Store apps, and it is user interface is just like that of the iPhone 3gs, so it will be a simple device to use if you got some familiarity with Apple's recent items (as well as even if you do not, the touched based user interface is very user-friendly).

While the Apple iPhone 4G is not allowed to be a replacement to your notebook, it will have an i-work apps suite app (such as Keynote for presentations, many spreadsheets, as well as Pages for word processing) that you could download. This will help you to perform some fundamental computer work with it. Similar to the iPhone 3G, an on screen key-board shows up if you want to type in text. Using the bigger screen size, the "keys" need to be a little easier to make use of compared to within the iPhone 3gs. The i-work app costs few dollars and will be to be found in the iTunes App Store.

Simply how much will the Apple iPhone 4G costs?

The original iPhone costs $350. Based on Apple it will have a great upgraded 4G iPhone (which means you can actually access the web exactly the same way a mobile phone with a web browser does) in a couple of months. Which version may reputedly cost $599 and work few dollars per month for 4G access (unlike with the iPhone 3gs, there will not a month-to-month support contract you need to sign).

Now you understand what the Apple iPhone 4G is, you will need to decide if it is the correct all-in-one entertainment device for you!

Cultural Activities in Bangkok, Thailand

Thailand is known for being one of the friendliest Asian countries in the world today. Also known as the land of smiles, Thailand is usually a "must go" for most people who want to visit Asia. Most frequently visited for its mix of modern and tradition would be Thailand's beautiful capital, Bangkok.

Bangkok is a real gem if you spend enough time exploring it thoroughly. Exploring the city through its rivers can be a great way to start the visit. The Chao Praya River, or "the river of kings" is probably the most famous river in all of Bangkok. A lot of Thailand's history can be found on the shores of the Chao Praya River, which makes it an even better way to get to know Bangkok. Unlike the modern city, the river gives you a glimpse of how the people here still stick to their old ways and traditions. Canals, or "Klongs", show the wooden houses on stilts with Sampans and floating kitchens nearby.

Further down the river, you can see the famous floating markets which sell all sorts of knickknacks and Thai craft, popular to tourists but yet as much a part of everyday life as it has been for the locals for decades. And if you're not sea-sick by the time you get through the crowded narrow canals, head for the Royal Barges Museum. Beautiful barges which are a distinct trait of Thailand line the area, reminding you of movies like the King and I.

Back on land there is as much to see as there is to do. One thing most tourists who've frequented Bangkok come back time and time again for is the Erawan Shrine. Adorned by hundreds of locals and tourists everyday, this shrine located at the corner of Ploenchit and Ratchadamri Road is one to not miss out. Though it isn't a temple (Wat), its one of the most famous sights in the bustling streets of Bangkok. Many pay their respects and give offerings in hope that their wishes would come true.

For those looking to see a totally different side of Bangkok and something totally unique to Thailand, head down during the Songkran ( Thai New Year ) or also known as the water festival. Held on the hottest days of the year, the streets of Bangkok suddenly line up with people carrying water guns and water balloons, preparing to aim for anyone and everyone. This festival has been part of even the oldest traditions combined with the Thai's spirit of showing people how to have a good time just like they do.

Thai Language Lessons: Thai Vowels, Part 1

This lesson is the first of two lessons teaching the Thai vowels. This installment introduces the sounds of the vowels, and how vowel formations change based on where they appear in a word. Some rare and seldom used vowels are included for the sake of completeness. Part two will give example words using the vowels used in this lesson. On a side note, please note that I am not a native Thai speaker, so my pronunciation may be a little "off key". I'm a Thai language student who has been learning Thai by myself for the last five years, and am making these videos to teach others in a manner that I found helpful for my own learning. I've found that it much harder to pronounce some of these odd vowels (and tones) properly on cue and slowly, as needed to make a video like this. So please bear this in mind when viewing my videos.

Koh Phangan - Advice For Travellers

Being home to several large dance parties every month, Koh Phangan can be either a hedonist's heaven or a holiday hell, outlined below is some sensible advice for people visiting the island.

When attending any of the parties on the island you should always keep a few things in mind. Remember that this is not your home country, the law here protects the Thai people, as a 'farang' (westerner) you have significantly reduced rights. Take for example an auto accident, let's say you are driving your rented jeep up a steep hill, coming towards you is a sand truck, and it fails to brake and collides with your jeep. Clearly the fault of the truck driver yes? He was going far too fast down a steep hill, not your fault at all right? Wrong, in Thailand the law is simple, if a farang is involved in an auto accident with a Thai person then regardless of who did what to cause the accident it is your fault. Why is that? Simple logic applies, you are a farang, you should not be here, and if you were not here the accident would never have happened thus it is your fault. I joke not.

Always remember that the island of Koh Phangan relies upon the tourist trade as its main source of income. Not a problem in itself, where the problem starts is with the less than honest people who are just waiting to take advantage of you should you give them the opportunity. Each month there are dozens of new stories involving some stupid farang who got far too drunk on Haad Rin beach, fell asleep and lost everything they had in their pockets to one of the professional pick pockets who cruise the parties looking for likely prey. You would be amazed at how many party goers decide it is safer to carry their passport, credit cards and plane tickets in their pockets than leave them in a security box. That pretty Thai girl (who probably wasn't actually a girl) that just came up and gave you a kiss at a party, did her hand go anywhere near your pockets? It happens; in fact it happens every month to many people, keep your wits about you.

Drinking and driving, just don't do it. So you think you can drive when you have had a skin full? Ok fine, off you go on your scooter with no crash helmet or protective clothing. Even a low speed crash whilst wearing a pair of shorts and sandals is terribly painful. Take it from me, somebody who knows, only a few short weeks ago I launched my Honda CBR onto the beach at 2am after drinking far more than was safe. I didn't walk for two weeks and I consider myself lucky, people die here every year due to drink driving, many are injured each month and have to cut their holiday short.

Don't upset the locals. I don't mean the lady who is cooking your food or the guy who is pumping you gasoline. I mean the kind of locals who consider themselves 'mafia' and make a hugely successful living ripping off tourists. These are not nice people and this is not a movie, there are many suspicious deaths on the island every year. Although these people are wise enough to realise they cannot go too far as they depend on the tourists as much as anyone else, if you give them a reason then they will give you trouble. On the surface Koh Phangan appears to be a tranquil paradise island, in reality it is a small piece of valuable land that has more in common with the Wild West than a civilised city. Almost everything here is controlled by certain key families, including the police, tread carefully; the illusion of safety is just that, an illusion.

If you maintain your self control, don't take foolish risks and remember that you are not in your native country then you will have no problems upon Koh Phangan. If you push the envelope a little too much a world of hurt could be waiting for you. I don't want to make Koh Phangan appear to be unsafe, almost all of the stories I hear involve somebody doing something stupid, the problem is they are doing something stupid in a place that has no safety net. Remember that and take care when you are visiting the island.

List of Filipino Folk Songs

Folk songs are, quite literally, songs of the people. And in determining the identity of a country, one can look no further than this form of music for clues to a particular culture. This list of Filipino folk songs offers a few examples of the many simple yet timeless tunes long since ingrained into the Philippine people's consciousness.

BAHAY KUBO

This song is as familiar to Filipino schoolchildren as the "ABC's" and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" are to kids everywhere. Credited to have been written by composer and 1997 National Artist for Music Felipe de Leon (1912-1992), it tells of the traditional Filipino rural house, the humble "bahay kubo" or nipa hut, and goes on to enumerate the various vegetables planted in its vicinity.

PAKITONG-KITONG

Also called "Tong Tong Tong Tong Pakitong-kitong," this Filipino folk song has both a Tagalog and Cebuano version. It describes a crab that is delicious to eat, but hard to catch because of its snapping pincers.

MAGTANIM AY 'DI BIRO

Credited to Felipe de Leon, "Magtanim Ay 'Di Biro" ("Planting Rice is Never Fun") describes the tedious chore of planting rice. It has been covered by Filipino rock band The Dawn, and former president Joseph "Erap" Estrada even rewrote it into a much more "inspirational" version entitled "Kung Tayo'y Magtatanim" ("If We All Plant Rice").

O ILAW

A popular example of the traditional Filipino love song genre "kundiman", this song was made famous by Filipino singer and actor Ruben Tagalog (1920-83). The real title of the song is actually "Aking Bituin" ("My Star"), its current title having been derived from its first two words "o ilaw" ("o light").

ANG PIPIT

"Ang Pipit" ("The Sparrow") relates the story a sparrow who falls off the branch its perched on after being stoned by a cruel man. It was co-written by Lucio D. San Pedro (1913-2002) and Levi Celerio (1910-2002). Named National Artist for Music and Literature in 1997, Celerio had composed over 4,000 songs and has even been included in the Guinness Book of World Records for his unusual talent of playing music from a leaf.

SA UGOY NG DUYAN

Another collaboration from Lucio San Pedro and Levi Celerio. "Sa Ugoy ng Duyan" ("The Swing of the Cradle") is a haunting and nostalgic lullaby expressing the feelings of a child finding tranquil security in the arms of a loving mother.

SA LIBIS NG NAYON

This song describes the beauty and serenity of life in the countryside. It was written by Santiago S. Suarez and popularized by Filipina singer and "Queen of Kundiman" Sylvia la Torre.

BAYAN KO

Written in 1929 by Filipino poet Jose Corazon de Jesus ("Huseng Batute" 1896-1932) and later set to music by Constancio de Guzman (1903-83), "Bayan Ko" ("My Country") was meant as a patriotic song protesting the American occupation of the Philippines. Since then, it has practically been a second national anthem for freedom-loving Filipinos, a theme song for some of the most momentous events in Philippine history. Its most famous rendition is the one by Filipino folk singer Freddie Aguilar.

It can be said that a country is defined by its folk songs. From this list of Filipino folk songs, we can gather that the people of the Philippines are a humble folk, full not only of mirth but also of deep aspiration. They are also an industrious people, with a love for the simple things in life, as well as a great yearning for peace and national freedom. And of course, the Filipino people are a talented lot, capable of crafting songs that reflect the nature of their beloved country.

Getting a Thai Driving License - An Easy Step by Step Approach

Obtaining a Thai driving license is relatively simple, but you must hold a non-immigrant visa in order to be eligible. If you intend to drive a car or motorcycle within Thailand during a holiday, then it is not necessary to obtain a Thai driving license at all. A valid International Driving Permit, along with your home country driving license, is acceptable, but you must have both.

If you will be in Thailand for a stay long enough that you hold a non-immigrant visa, then if you intend to drive in Thailand it is advisable to obtain a Thai driving license.

When you first obtain the license it will be valid for one year. Upon renewal, the license is valid for five years. Thailand does not combine licenses for car and motorcycle. Each is a separate license. If you intend to drive both, then you will need both licenses.

The easiest way to obtain the license is to come to Thailand with both your valid home country driving license and an International Driving Permit. Make sure the International Driving Permit specifies car, motorcycle, or both if you intend to use it to obtain the Thai driving license. Despite the fact that an International Driving License is valid for one year, Thailand honors it only for the first ninety days upon entry to the country, so make sure you get your licenses within those ninety days. Also, you must obtain the International Driving Permit outside of Thailand.

You must also produce two additional documents. You must produce a medical certificate and a residence certificate. You can obtain the medical certificate at any hospital or street clinic. The medical certificate is quite simple. Almost literally, if you are moving and breathing you can get the medical certificate. It is easiest and least expensive to get one at a street clinic.

For the residence certificate you must hold a valid non-immigrant visa, have passport photos, and produce documentation that verifies your address in Thailand. You must also have a copy of your main passport page and your visa page. You obtain the residence certificate at an Immigration office, but it must be the office in your home province. Most immigration offices have a photo and copy shop next door. You can get whatever photos or copies you need at the copy shop. The fee for the certificate at most immigration offices is 200 baht. When the certificate is issued, make sure to check that it shows that you hold a non-immigrant visa. Sometimes they mistakenly show that you hold a tourist visa. Check that to be sure.

According to the most recent regulations, if you are getting both a car and motorcycle license, a copy of your medical is acceptable for the second license, but you must have a separate residence certificate for each license. If you intend to obtain both licenses, get two residence certificates.

Here's what you need to take with you when you go to obtain the driving license:

o Valid Passport with non-immigrant visa
o Residence Certificate
o Medical Certificate
o Valid home country driving license
o Valid International Driving Permit

Once you have the required documentation you are ready to go to the driving license agency. In Pattaya the agency is located at the Eastern Verification Center. To get to the Eastern Verification Center you go north on Sukhumvit Highway, as if you are headed to Bangkok. When you reach the junction of Highway 3 and Route 36, 8 kilometers from Central Road (Pattaya Klang), take Route 36, toward Rayong. You'll see a sign that says "Rayong," with a right-pointing arrow. That's the road you take. 5 kilometers up the road you'll come to a sign that points Bangkok to the left and Rayong to the right. Go to the right. Almost immediately see a large, rather new looking school, The Regent's Academy. Directly in front of the school make a U-turn. Once you pass the school again, take the first left you come to, and just follow the road around. You'll see a large white building on the right side of the road. That's where you are trying to go.

At the building entrance there will be a desk at which you fill out the application form for the driving license. Make sure to tell the clerk which driving licenses you want. The clerk will check your documentation and inform you if you need anything else. If you do need additional copies, directly across the street from the building there is a row of copy and photo shops. Once the clerk is satisfied you will then be issued a number and sent upstairs to wait your turn to be called.

When you are called your documents will be taken and you will then be sent to go through some simple physical tests. Those usually include a color blindness test, a peripheral vision test, and a reaction time test. There can be other types of tests if they so choose.

Once you pass those tests, you're done. All you will have to do is wait to be called to pay the fee, about 200 baht, and wait again for the license.

What happens if you don't have an International Driving Permit and/or a valid home country driving license? You'll have to sit through a two-hour movie, all in Thai, followed by a written test. Then, hours later, you will have to physically drive a vehicle through their obstacle course while the examiner watches. You have to supply the car and/or motorcycle yourself. If you're going to get both the car and motorcycle license, again those are two separate licenses. You can do it all in one day, but since you can't drive both a car and a motorcycle to the agency, how can you do it? If you don't have a motorcycle or car, offer a Thai who is getting his own license about 200 baht if he'll let you drive the obstacle course on his motorcycle. You will almost always find someone willing to help you out.

If, for some reason, you fail any of the tests you can try again in thirty days.

When the time comes to renew your license you must produce the same documentation again. Of course, since you already hold the Thai driving license, you no longer need a home country driving license or International Driving Permit. There are no fee penalties if you renew late.

One advantage to holding a Thai driving license is you can quite often get the Thai price, rather than the farang price, at venues and parks, or at least a discount. Also, when you find yourself in circumstances in which you are asked to leave ID, you can leave the license rather than your passport.
